I HATE MY PHOTO BEING TAKEN
One of the first things you’ll probably say to me when we meet is “I hate having my photo taken”. We hate having our photo taken too, so it’s our job to make your portrait photography session as painless as possible.
You will look much better in photos if you are relaxed in front of the camera. After photographing hundreds of people, we have developed an ability to make your session seem effortless and easy. Because portraits are about people, creating an environment where you feel confident and comfortable is really important.
Our friendly and professional approach will help you feel at ease while we take your photo. Even if you book a relatively simple headshot session we will bring just enough of your personality out to make you actually look like you in your photos. If you book us for a longer session we’ll be able to spend a bit more time creating images that capture different aspects of your personality and make you look exactly like you want to.
The session will be as relaxed and informal as possible because that will make the shoot much more enjoyable for both you and me, and it results in better photos. The selection of images on this page is a true reflection of my work, so it should give you a good idea of the type portrait photos you can expect from me.
SOME TIPS FOR YOUR SESSION
– Try to arrive at the session in good time so you can relax, adjust your hair, and take some time to chat to the photographer.
– Bring two or three outfits so that the photographer can create a range of different shots. You’ll benefit from having a set of portrait photos you can use for different uses over a period of time.
– Above all, relax and enjoy the session. Both you and the photographer will be more satisfied with the images as a result of capturing something of your true personality.

OUR INDIVIDUAL APPROACH
Rather than working in the same way with everyone, we treat every project individually. One person may require a slower more relaxed approach to get the best images, while another may prefer a higher energy shoot. Some people need support and guidance, while others need none at all.
It’s important to consider how you want to look in your photos. So we will certainly get feedback from you on the photos we are taking throughout the shoot. Additionally we will always use locations that are relevant to you, however sometimes a studio is best. Generally the first 10 minutes of a shoot probably won’t produce the best images, so we use this time to get to know you.
During the shoot we are very open to feedback and will show you the photos I’m taking as we go so you can make any changes or suggestions that you like. We always produce photos that our clients are happy with.
CAN WE INCLUDE HOBBIES AND/OR PETS
We’ve photographed a dazzling array of different activities over the years and we are happy to rise to any challenge. All we ask is that you tell me about any specific hobbies in advance so we can bring any specialist equipment needed along to the shoot. If your passion is something I’ve not photographed before, then I’ll need time to thoroughly research what’s required to capture the very best images for you.
Of course, pets are family too so the more the merrier. Over the years I’ve photographed all sorts if animals and pets. It’s lovely to have all the family, furry and non-furry, included.

It varies depending on what package you book. Contact us and we can run through everything!
Some photographs suit colour and some really work best in black and white. I make these creative decisions as I’m editing. Of course we can provide black and white, just let us know! Also bear in mind that indoor tungsten lighting can be really unflattering to skin colour, and therefore some images, such as the speeches, look better in black and white. If you want any others turned black and white let me know the file number and I’ll happily convert them for you.
We always deliver our photos via a digital download. We edit and optimize the images so they can be downloaded with ease and played/displayed/printed/shared/saved very simply!
We personally hand edit every photo, adjusting tone, contrast, cropping etc….but We are photographers not digital artists and we want to capture your family as it really was on the day. We do photoshop out the odd spot but the images are mainly pretty natural – although clients are often very happily surprised how amazing they look without photoshopping! Professional photographs (taken with care to the lighting, professional kit and an eye for angle and composition) are so much more flattering than the awful photos our friends share of us on instagram! If you do want more extensive retouching on some photos I can get you a quote from the experts I pass this type of work onto.
We have public liability insurance for 20 million Australian dollars. A lot of venues, vendors and locations require this.
